Recording Democracy

An Exhibit in the Making
The National Constitution Center proudly announces the development of student-created exhibit that will be displayed here at the National Constitution Center, as well as in Afghanistan, at the National Museum.
The project, titled Being “We the People:” Afghanistan, America and the Minority Imprint partners students from a school in Afghanistan with students from Philadelphia’s own Constitution High School.
With the help of a grant from a joint State Department-American Association of Museums program called Museum and Community Collaborations Abroad (MCCA), the students are provided digital cameras, camcorders, computers, and training to document what Being We, the People means in their communities.
Guided by civic themes drawn from the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution and sections of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the students have begun exploring their communities in ways they never have before, finding new ways to interpret We, the People, and express it to their partners a world away.
Here, you can watch the exhibit taking shape.
