The History Channel The History Channel and NCC share a common purpose in bringing the past alive for a broad audience. The History Channel developed 13 video overviews for the museum
exhibit space to help visitors understand the connection between Americans’
history and the Constitution. In
addition, the Channel sponsored a program during the National Constitution
Center’s grand opening celebration which featured actors portraying four of the
nation’s Founding Fathers participating in a conversation with a group of
contemporary constitutional scholars. The Annenberg
Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania The Annenberg Center for Education and Outreach at the NCC is a natural platform for communicating the scholarship undertaken at the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania. The Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of
Pennsylvania was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in
1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania
that would address public policy issues at the local, state and federal levels,
including Information and Society; Media and the Developing Mind; Media and the
Dialogue of Democracy; and Health Communication.
Morgan Lewis, founding legal sponsor In 1997, to commemorate the firm’s 125th Anniversary,
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius became the Founding Legal Sponsor of the National
Constitution Center. With a gift of
more than $500,000, the firm was the first in the Philadelphia legal community –
and in the nation – to make a commitment to the Center’s capital campaign. This gift kicked off the Center’s Power of an Hour Initiative among large
law firms and individual attorneys.
The firm and its partners have served as advocates for the Center in this
broader effort to raise support.
National
Archives and Records Administration The NCC is proud to be the
first National Archives Experieance Alliance member. The National Archives and
Records Administration (NARA) preserves our nation's history by overseeing the
management of all federal records, a documentary heritage that helps to define
us as a people. NARA, and especially its public outreach initiative, the
National Archives Experience, shares an interest with the NCC in increasing
public awareness of the Constitution as a charter of our nation's freedom.
Nearly one-third of the more than 100 original documents and artifacts on
display in the NCC's long-term exhibition have been loaned by
NARA and its affiliated
presidential libraries. A commitment to partnering in the development of
traveling exhibits is another major aspect of the National Archives
Experience-NCC alliance. The traveling exhibit initiative reflects both
institutions' dedication to public education and enrichment through the display
of historic material.
The University of
Pennsylvania The University of Pennsylvania is the NCC's lead academic partner.
Working together on a wide range of programs -- including symposia, lectures and
a book series -- the two institutions have forged a close and productive
relationship to foster public education about the Constitution.
WHYY WHYY,
the public broadcasting television and radio stations serving
southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and South Jersey, is
the Center’s partner in a television series featuring interviews with former
Presidents about their Constitution-related experiences in the White House. WHYY also partnered with the Center in a
broadcast panel discussion about the First Amendment on July 8, 2003 with the
Philadelphia Bar Association.
WPVI -6 WPVI / Channel 6 is the ABC affiliate television station in the
Delaware Valley and a leader in community affairs in the City of
Philadelphia. As the National
Constitution Center’s Grand Opening media partner, WPVI / Channel 6 helped
hundreds of thousands learn about the Center through news coverage, public
service announcements, and a one-hour prime time special the evening of July 3,
2003, the day before the grand opening.
