MARJORIE O. RENDELL
Marjorie O. Rendell has sat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit since 1997. She previously served on the U.S. District Court for the eastern district of Pennsylvania, and practiced law for 20 years. Rendell has been the First Lady of Pennsylvania since her husband, Edward G. Rendell, became governor in 2003.
Over the course of her 20-year career as a practicing attorney, she specialized in bankruptcy law and commercial litigation and served as a mediator for the United States District Court. Inducted as a judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in March of 1994, Judge Rendell was elevated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in November of 1997. She is the Chair of the United States Judicial Conference Committee on the Administration of the Bankruptcy System.
Rendell is chair of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, a member of the Board of Overseers of Penn Medicine, and a member of the Trustees Council of Penn Women. Additionally, she is the Chair of Avenue of the Arts, Inc., and a member of the board of directors of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia.
