RICHARD ROBBINS

Richard E. Robbins is an award-winning producer and director who has been making documentaries for more than a decade. After many years at ABC News, his first theatrically released documentary, Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience was nominated for an Academy Award in 2008. His documentary work for ABC took him around the country and the globe. Immediately following September 11, 2001, Robbins produced for a variety of ABC News programs including the Jennings special, “Answering Children’s Questions,” which won a duPont award from the Columbia School of Journalism. In the fall of 2001 and 2002, he spent time in Pakistan and Afghanistan covering the war for ABC News. At The Documentary Group, Robbins continues to develop projects for cable and broadcast networks, as well as a new documentary feature. In 2009, he is producing a dramatic television pilot for ABC based on a script he wrote. The program, filming in March 2009, centers on a group of television journalists in Washington. A graduate of Harvard University, Robbins lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
