STEPHEN FRANK

In his role as Vice President of Education and Exhibits, Stephen Frank oversees the exhibits team and the Center’s education and outreach efforts, which include on-site public programs and outreach programs with educational partners. Steve spearheads the effort to become an important engine of civic education all across America and to create a new paradigm of how the museum will teach not only the Constitution but what it means to be a citizen.

A member of the Center’s staff since 2001, Steve played a leadership role on the project team that created its award-winning permanent exhibit, The Story of We the People. He continues to oversee the Center’s permanent and changing exhibition programs. He also serves as the Center’s chief liaison to the academic community, engaging Constitutional scholars in a variety of fields and disciplines with the work of the Center.

Before joining the National Constitution Center, Steve served as Program Director for the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. He received a Ph.D. in American history from the University of Michigan and has published in the field of nineteenth-century U.S. social history. He received his undergraduate degree in English from Clark University, Worcester, MA. Before entering the museum field, Steve was a professional journalist, working as daily newspaper reporter in western Massachusetts and Albany, New York.
