JAKE TAPPER

Jake Tapper was named ABC News’ Senior White House Correspondent in November 2008. Prior to his assignment at the White House, Tapper was ABC News’ National/Senior Political Correspondent based in the network's Washington, DC bureau. As the network's lead reporter covering the 2008 presidential election, he received recognition for both breaking stories and even-handedness. In addition to his popular blog and weekly podcast, Tapper has served as a substitute anchor on Nightline, This Week with George Stephanopoulos, and Weekend Good Morning America. He contributed a report to a broadcast of World News Tonight with Peter Jennings that won the 2005 Edward R. Murrow award for best network newscast. Before joining ABC News, Tapper received critical acclaim as the Washington Correspondent for Salon.com. His previous broadcasting experience includes hosting the Sundance Channel’s 24 Frame News and the CNN news talk show Take Five. He was also the correspondent for a series of VH1 news specials and frequently contributed to NPR’s All Things Considered. Tapper is the author of “Down and Dirty: The Plot to Steal the Presidency,” a look at the Florida recount, and “Body Slam: The Jesse Ventura Story”.
