JOSEPH M. TORSELLA
Joseph M. Torsella was President and CEO of the National Constitution Center from 1997 through 2003, where he was the driving force behind its concept, construction and opening. He returned in June 2006 to further advance the museum’s place as one of America’s most vital civic institutions.
A Rhodes Scholar, Torsella served as deputy mayor for policy and planning for the city of Philadelphia under then-Mayor Ed Rendell, ran for Congress, co-chaired a regional group to bring the Olympics to Philadelphia, and founded his own private equity and strategic consulting firm. He has written widely on historical and contemporary issues, and is active in community and civic affairs.
