In an exciting program for all ages, the National Constitution Center welcomes veteran film and television writer Jonathan Hennessey to present a groundbreaking way to see and read the United States Constitution. In The United States Constitution: A Graphic Adaptation, Hennessey uses the popular medium of graphic art to illustrate and breathe new life into our nation’s cornerstone principles. What revolutionary ideas made the Constitution’s authors cast off centuries of rule by kings and queens? Does the Constitution actually give you rights, or just protect them? What are the limits on the president as commander in chief in times of war? Is the separation of church and state a modern fabrication, or a golden rule enshrined by the founding fathers? These questions will be addressed using a unique approach that is sure to surprise, challenge, and provoke a discussion about the intersection of art and America’s founding document. Steve Frank, Vice President of Education and Exhibits at the Constitution Center, moderates.
Jonathan Hennessey is a writer living in Los Angeles. A ten-year veteran of the film and television production industry, Hennessey also works as a story analyst for Phoenix Pictures. The United States Constitution: A Graphic Adaptation is his first graphic book.
