Independence Transportation Center
Motor Coach Loading and Unloading for Tour Groups and Drivers
New Overnight Parking Available

asset_upload_file107_13625.jpg

Tour operators who transport their groups by motor coach now have an easy and efficient way to drop-off and pick up groups visiting the National Constitution Center and Philadelphia's Independence National Historical Park - the new Independence Transportation Center (ITC).  The ITC has 11 spots for loading and unloading, with an additional three spots on Race Street.

Located adjacent to the new National Constitution Center, the ITC sits in the heart of the historic district and is in close proximity to the Independence Visitor Center, the new Liberty Bell Center and Independence Hall as well as other sites, attractions, restaurants and shops in Philadelphia's historic district.

In addition to the new ITC, five drop-off and pick-up locations are provided throughout the historic district for motor coach groups.  These locations are on the east side of Third Street, between Walnut and Chestnut streets (in front of the former INHP Visitors Center); in front of Christ Church on Second Street, between Arch and Market streets; in front of the Betsy Ross House on Arch Street, between Second and Third streets; and in front of City Tavern, just North of Second and Walnut streets; and a location for seniors and handicapped only on Fifth Street between Ranstead and Chestnut streets.

A designated motor coach parking facility nearby provides a secure, convenient and comfortable location for motor coach drivers to wait while their groups explore the area and take in all the delights of the city.  Overnight parking is available for a nominal fee.

Motor coaches can approach the ITC from Race Street, between Fifth and Sixth streets.  Passengers disembark, and the motor coach driver heads up the street to the new designated parking facility on Callowhill Street between Front and Second streets.  For just $20 (payable at the ITC or the parking facility), the driver can park in one of 40 secured spaces and then enjoy amenities like air-conditioned waiting areas that feature bathrooms and showers, televisions, sleeping lounges and vending machines. They will also receive coupons for local restaurant and family entertainment venues nearby.  The parking facility will allow motor coach drivers to come and go as they wish after paying the $20 fee, provided they display the parking permit they received upon paying.  The parking facility is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 am to 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.  Overnight parking will be an additional $10 (for a total fee of $30.00).  Reservations for evening hours and overnight parking can be made before 5:00 p.m. by calling 215-925-3706. Reservations are requested for holidays as well.

Please note that the ITC and the five designated sites are the only areas where groups can be dropped-off and picked up.  Parking and idling regulations will be strictly enforced.
