Educators will experience the Center’s innovative programs in order to enhance their next class visit. Participants will receive free materials for the classroom and admission to the Center’s exhibitions, including Ancient Rome & America. Teachers can also enter to win a free class trip.
Educator Workshops
March 13, 2010 and April 17, 2010
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
$40 per educators (includes lunch)
This full-day workshop will provide teachers with complete access to the National Constitution Center’s permanent exhibit as well as the new exhibition Ancient Rome & America.
During the workshop teachers will be provided with the opportunity to examine and learn about the many new educational projects at the National Constitution Center, including: iPod tours, new theater productions, national student programs, and they will receive plenty of classroom-ready resources.
The National Constitution Center’s professional education staff will present sessions designed to be grade level appropriate and will demonstrate how to apply the National Constitution Center’s Civic Education framework in their classroom. Lunch in our Delegates Restaurant is included.

- Speech and Toga Cart – visitors will learn about ancient and modern speeches from the greats.
- Building the Coliseum and the Capital Building Cart – will include models of these great buildings.
- Census Activity – a primary source workshop on the Roman and American Census

With this special guide, students will explore the exhibit with our activity guide and unlock the mysteries of the past by comparing Ancient Rome and America. Offered daily as a self-guided activity for students 5th grade through 10th grade.
Rome: Republic to Ruin
Cost: $17.50 per student for package price, minimum of 20 students>
Rome: Republic to Ruin examines the events, personalities, issues, and impact of Ancient Rome from the founding of the city, through the development of the Republic, to the decline of the Empire. Rome may not have been built in a day but students can learn all about it in one visit with this program. The show is enhanced by a guided tour of the main exhibit that highlights the many links between Rome and America.
Rome-ing Around: Roman Walking Tour of Historic Philadelphia
Walking Tour Fee: $30 per person (includes admission to Ancient Rome & America)
During this special one-hour walking tour of Historic Philadelphia, participants will learn about Rome’s influence on America by examining the architecture and symbols of our historic landscape. Minimum attendance of five participants required or tours will be cancelled. Groups will meet at the museum entrance at 10:45 a.m.

Museum Hours
The National Constitution Center welcomes visitors seven days a week (except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day). Groups will be admitted as early as 9:15 a.m.
